Allow Reiki to restore your natural balance and inner peace

Reiki is a Japanese form of healing for the mind, body and spirit.  There are two aspects to Reiki, therapeutic and spiritual.  In fact, the purpose of Reiki, according to the founder, Usui Sensei, is to gain spiritual enlightenment. As a Reiki client, you first feel the therapeutic aspects of this miraculous energy.  The deep calm that comes after you find internal stillness can be felt in a session, but can be maintained as a life long connection to Reiki and meditation through training as a practitioner.

A Reiki session is a blissful way to have your balance restored and to come to centre.  Most of us require more time for inner stillness and this is the first goal of a Reiki session.  Injury/trauma at a physical/emotional level is stored at the cellular level. Once the mind is at peace, the cells remember how to return to balance and from there, the healing begins.

What is a treatment or session like?Take a moment to breathe

The client lies fully clothed on the table.  The practitioner will prepare themselves, while the client is asked to breathe peacefully and consider an intention. You have the power to use the Reiki any way you choose.  The practitioner will invite you to make an I AM statement to the Universe that expresses a knowing that what you have intended will happen.  Examples include:  “I am peaceful.  I am healed. I am pain-free.  I am accepting the Reiki energy.”  You can ask for assistance with this at the time of booking.

A standard Reiki treatment includes placing the hands gently on the body following the chakras through the energy field.  Beginning at the crown, several minutes are spent on the head, then the practitioner moves to the shoulders, heart, solar plexus, stomach, hips and several minutes are spent working the energy through the legs and feet.   In addition, other positions may be used for specific conditions the client may have.

Each position is held 2 to 15 minutes and the entire treatment lasts 45 to 90 minutes.  Originally Usui Sensei would have placed his hands on a few places on the head and then worked on the places of illness or injury, all while the patient sat on the floor.

While Reiki is not a massage and usually, manipulation is not part of the treatment there are situations in which patting of the legs or arms, across the back or chest may be used to stimulate energy flow.  Sometimes energy is ‘swiped’ off the legs and arms with sweeping motions.  These techniques are gentle and designed only to address the energy field.  The private areas are worked on from 4-6” above the body.  A treatment creates a wonderful radiance that is deeply relaxing and includes many beneficial effects for both client and practitioner.  At the very least, you will feel very relaxed during a session, often to the point of falling asleep.  A Reiki session always seems to impress those who say they find it difficult to relax.

Many individuals report feeling cold, pulsating heat, or a tingling sensation during a session, and most enter a calm, relaxed state.  In some, chronic or acute pain can diminish or completely vanish.  Sometimes allergies and other infirmities completely disappear. It’s different for each person.

What can be expected after a session?

Directly after a Reiki session, you should allow yourself time to come fully back into your awareness.  You may feel so relaxed that you are spaced-out. It is suggested to sit for 15 minutes and sip a cool glass of water.  Getting in touch with the soles of your feet and their placement on the floor will help bring you back to this moment and become grounded.

Your session at The Dojo

Your session here at The Dojo allows you to experience having two practitioners with you as often as we can schedule.  The training program incorporates a practicum so that our practitioners can gain hands on experience in sessions. These well trained energy workers will be with Shihan (teacher) Robert or Lorie Saito,or with our Shinpiden or Okuden Degree Practitioners.

How often should I have a Reiki session?

While the effects of Reiki can be felt immediately, the use of Reiki as a healing tool can be long term as well.  Generally, we recommend a beginning of 4 sessions, usually based one week apart so that you can begin to experience the true deep power of Reiki.  Then a personal program will be designed to effect the greatest benefit for you.  We’ll explore how Reiki can assist you with everything you are doing.

Here’s our schedule.
